The Master Planning Process Has Concluded

Welcome to Your Lincoln Square!

Your Lincoln Square is the virtual home of the Lincoln Square Master Plan, a project of SSA 21 Special Improvement Program.

What is a SSA Special Improvement Program? So glad you asked. An SSA (Special Service Area) is a City of Chicago funding mechanism wherein property owners along the major corridors in Lincoln Square pay a small tax. That tax goes into the Neighborhood's Special Improvement Program. Lincoln Square's Special Improvement Program focuses on making the area cleaner, greener, safer, and more vibrant -- it funds street cleaning, sidewalk banners, murals and business recruitment / vacancy assistant... as well as a number of other things. Ever notice the lush planters that sprinkle our neighborhood sidewalks? The SSA Special Improvement Program funds such! How about the Cambodian Color mural on Lawrence Avenue? Yep, we helped fund that too. Shout-out to artist Brandin Hurley, and PaintWorks.

What is the Master Plan? The Lincoln Square Master Plan will be a guiding document that our SSA (Special Service Area) and Chamber will look to over the next 5-10 years to make strategic decisions on where to spend funds and how to make improvements - big and small - in Lincoln Square SSA 21. The next 6-months will include a robust outreach process to hear from the community.

Tell us: What do you want to see? What could be improved? How can we make creative impacts and lasting benefits within our neighborhood? What ideas do YOU have regarding placemaking?
